What You Need to Know

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and related species. When Botulinum type A toxin is injected (by a certified medical provider) it prevents the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from axon endings at the neuromuscular junction thus causing weakness of the desired muscle.

What is a neuromodulator “Botox”?
